Description:Klickitat Valley Health is searching for an energetic CT/ X-ray Technologist to join the Diagnostic Imaging team. This candidate will provide coverage for vacations, leaves and backup staffing. This casual position doesn't guarantee any specified hours per week and shifts are varied.

The Radiologic Technologist - CT performs diagnostic imaging procedures as prescribed by physician’s order for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease and/or injury, by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographic images. The Technologist takes radiographic computer tomography (CT) images of the body while utilizing CT equipment. The Technologist ensures patient’s safety during the course of the procedure. All work is done under the direction and supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Department Manager. The Technologist demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with employees, managers/supervisors, physicians, patients and patient family members, etc. The Technologist is aware of the potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials, including but not limited to: radiation, blood and blood borne pathogens, infectious/communicable diseases, potential physical injury while caring for patients.
Duties:• Reads physician’s orders/notes to understand why and where the imaging exam/procedure is being performed.
• Prepares patient for the diagnostic imaging examination/procedure by establishing personal rapport and gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; and answering questions; provides direction for patient with undressing and removal of any jewelry, as well as gowning for the examination/procedure; ascertains if the patient is claustrophobic; may take medical history information as needed; maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Prepares patient for CT procedure by positioning patient on the CT equipment so that parts of the patient’s body can be appropriately imaged.
• Positions or adjusts the CT equipment, along with the patient and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure/scanning duration in order produce the CT images for the appropriate density, detail and contrast; adjusts immobilization devices as needed.
• Minimizes radiation to the patient and imaging staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding and knowledge of exposure factors.
• Protects patients and imaging staff by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reaction to drugs/solutions given to patients such as contrast media; may need to administer first-aid or use emergency cart.
• Maintains production and quality CT images by following established standards and procedures; developing CT images, observing CT results, making necessary adjustments to achieve appropriate anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• May clarify acceptance and understanding of image results obtained on the patient as needed.
• Documents patient care services delivered by charting exams/procedures in the patient and department records/charts; may prepares medical reports as needed and maintains records as required by department policy and practice.
• Ensures operation of Imaging department CT equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions with vendors/repair technicians to minimize downtime; calling for repairs as needed; maintaining equipment inventories as needed.
• Maintains Imaging department supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, may assist with placing orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies.
• May perform routine clerical duties to ensure efficient operation of the department when not directly performing imaging exams/procedures.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment at all times and complies with hospital procedures, rules and regulations.
• Complies with federal, state, local legal and professional requirements, regulations, etc. and enforces adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:Education:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program required.

Licensure / Certification:
• Current Washington state license in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology required.
• Registered Radiologic Technologist, A.R.R.T. required.
• Certification in Computer Tomography (CT), and DEXA preferred.
• BLS required.

Experience:
• Minimum one (1) year’s recent experience in a clinical setting required, or recent completion of radiologic and/or CT training where part of the training was at KVH.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Demonstrates knowledge of radiologic and computer tomography (CT) imaging technology sciences; patients’ rights; radiation exposure control; universal precautions; infection control, etc.
• Ability to produce high quality CT imaging examinations/results consistently.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge through various methods, such as: professional publications, participation in professional societies, attending educational training and/or workshops, establishing professional/personal networks, etc.
• Demonstrates ability to deliver age-specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being of patients and visitors as they relate to performing diagnostic imaging examinations on patients.
• Requires critical thinking skills, ability to make good decisions, listen and accept advice from others, demonstrate maturity and good judgment and the ability to work with regular supervision.
• Excellent trouble-shooting / problem-solving skills.
• Perform various sensory requirements such as: vision, speech, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hearing while performing job duties.
• Promote/deliver excellent customer service to both internal (patients and staff) and external customers (visitors and vendors).
• Demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians, volunteers and community.

• Experience with using everyday computer electronic tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, word processing, voicemail, and internet/intranet) and organize and store work-related data.
