Description:Klickitat Valley Health, located in Goldendale, WA, is now accepting applications for a Full-time Medical Assistant position at our newly remodeled Family Medicine. The clinic houses eight primary care providers and hosts specialty clinics. This position offers 40 hours per week, M-F, day shift, and is eligible for the full-time benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Rx, Long and Short Term Disability, Life Insurance, generous Paid Time Off and Retirement contribution.
Duties: Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: • Demonstrated knowledge of basic Medical Assisting skills (i.e., taking vital signs, administering vaccines, recognition of abnormal signs and symptoms, etc.); first aid; patients’ rights; universal precautions; infection control; body mechanics; basic medical and nursing terminology. • Ability to anticipate tasks and prioritize assignments. • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision • Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families and physicians particularly during times of high stress. • Follow oral and written instructions precisely. • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. • Keen attention to detail and high degree of accuracy. • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. • Experience with using everyday computer electronic technology tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet) as well as ability to effectively utilize and enter information in the electronic medical record (EMR). Plus copier and fax. • Proficiency with basic computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel, and a typing speed of 40+ words per minute. • Ability to promote the delivery of exceptional customer service to both internal (patients and staff) and external customers (visitors and vendors), and work effectively with distraught or agitated individuals. • Ability to work productively, cohesively within a team and resolve conflict in a positive manner. • Adaptability is essential to manage the needs of a department with unpredictable volume and resources. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to): • Collects vital signs and accurately records patient’s chief complaint, symptoms, history, allergies and immunizations in the medical chart or electronic health record. • Collects specimens as instructed by the provider. • Prepares patients for examination and assists provider as needed in the examination of the patient (e.g., hold child for injection, turn patient, hand instruments to physician, etc.). • Obtains, prepares, and sets up supplies and instruments to be used in the care and treatment of patients. • Administers vaccines. • Performs waived testing as allowable by CLIA (e.g., urine dip, blood sugar, rapid strep). • Tracks and routes test results to provider(s) for review, and communicates test results to patient when deemed appropriate by provider. • Reports abnormal values or key information to provider promptly. • Enters all required patient information and clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR) system to maintain the paperless charting system of the clinic. • Uses the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age-specific needs and provides age-specific treatment and care. • Maintains a clean, well-stocked, safe environment for patients and staff. Keeps patient care and utility areas neat and clean. • Answers phone, takes messages, assists provider or other staff as needed. • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. • Participates in departmental and organizational quality management activities. • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies. • Performs other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications): Education / Licensure: • High school diploma or GED required. • Current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant- Registered (MA-C or MA-R), or the ability to obtain within 30 days. • National AAMA certification strongly preferred. • BLS required. Experience: • At least one year recent experience providing direct patient care in an outpatient or acute care medical setting is strongly preferred
