Description:The surgical services department is now seeking qualified applicants for a casual position in the Surgical area. This RN position is eligible for an additional 15% differential because of its casual/on call status.

The Surgical (RN) is responsible for providing patient care in the Surgical Services unit as defined by the Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse {Nursing Practice Act (RCW 18.79.010-18.79.902)}. The Surgical RN is an important member of the perioperative team and works collaboratively with the other members of the care team to provide optimal outcomes for our patients in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. The Surgical RN demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with employees, managers/supervisors, physicians, patients and patient family members, etc. The role of the Surgical RN includes, but is not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patientsí status, plan of care and goal achievement. The Surgical RN is aware of the potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials, including but not limited to: blood and blood borne pathogens, infectious/communicable diseases, potential physical injury while caring for patients. Maintains a safe and clean environment for the care of the patient.
Duties:Opportunity to work within all areas of Surgical Services with emphasis on Recovery and surgical pre-op. Sharp clinical skills, strong teamwork and ability to work in a fast paced environment is essential to this position. The ability to perform patient assessments, compile preoperative information and prepare patients for surgery. Collaborative working relationships with surgical offices. Strong decision making and ability to respond appropriately during emergent situations is required.
Qualifications:Must hold a current Washington State RN license. CPR healthcare provider level required. ACLS/PALS required.
Five years OR experience desired.
