|Description:||Klickitat Valley Health is now accepting applications for a full-time Generalist position in the Human Resources department. KVH is a rural, critical access, public hospital district located in scenic Goldendale, Washington only two hours from Portland along the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge. KVH employs nearly 200 people and is licensed for 25 beds. KVH offers emergency, acute inpatient care and rehab / extended swing beds as well as a full scope of ancillary services including: Diagnostic Imaging; Laboratory; Respiratory Therapy; PT / OT; Home Health / Hospice, and more. The hospital owns a busy primary care / urgent care clinic and staffs a full-time general surgeon and hospitalist. |

The Human Resources department consists of two FTE's and a Payroll Clerk. The Generalist reports to the Director. This is an exempt-level position offering 40 hours per week, typically M-F.
|Duties:||The Human Resources Generalist is one who specializes in all areas of HR responsibility including benefits administration, compensation, employee relations, federal and state labor law, EEOC, personnel policies & procedures, recruitment, union relations, retention, employee recognition, performance appraisal process, FMLA, ADAAA, Workers Compensation and New Hire Orientation. The Generalist strives to assist employees to the best of their ability as the first point of contact in Human Resources and provides administrative / clerical support for the department. |
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management with at least two to three years of experience working in HR or five years of experience working as a Generalist in HR
PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification strongly preferred
Experience working in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Keen attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
Experience with using everyday tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet)
Ability to promote the delivery of exceptional customer service to both internal (staff) and external customers (visitors and vendors)
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and HRIS systems
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs especially during times of high volume and / or stress
Ability to draft professional communication such as letters, memos, policies, agendas, meeting minutes
Ability to monitor and consistently meet deadlines
Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, patients, visitors, and vendors
Ability to coach employees and managers in a solution-oriented manner which encourages positive outcomes
Ability to resolve conflict directly and productively
Familiarity with all functions of a Human Resources department including but not limited to the areas listed in the General Summary above.
Must type at least 45 wpm for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
